10 Things About Me

Today I’m sharing with you ten things about me which you may or may not already know. I hope that this list will at least give you more insight into the ‘woman behind the blog’.

I DIY everything that I can. Set me loose in a Michael’s store and I will happily craft the weekend away! Sewing, knitting, scrapbooking, painting, I just love to make things!

I consider myself part of a few fandoms: Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) will always be MY Doctor, Harry Potter – I’m a proud Hufflepuff, Sherlock – because Benedict Cumberbatch is delightful and I ship him & Martin Freeman, Star Wars – I really love the female leads in the recent movies with Daisy Ridley as Rey and Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso.

If money were no object, I would buy every plant at the nursery! Send me everything in the seed catalog! There’s a plant in almost every room of my house and I always have one on my desk at work. I could lose hours in the backyard spending time with my flower & vegetable gardens.

Bring on the scary movies! Good ones, bad ones, I love to watch them; the scarier and bloodier, the better.

You’ll never catch me at a gym, it’s just not for me. I know that most people don’t give yoga proper credit. It’s not as easy as they think it is, but it is more rewarding than they will ever know. I never regret waking up early to have time for my yoga practice before I head off to work.

You may not guess it by looking at me, but I love hard rock & heavy metal! August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, Chevelle, Trivium, Volbeat, All that Remains, my list goes on and on thanks to the wonders of internet radio.

I grew up with the classic Nintendo & Super Nintendo games and I will always love the Mario franchise. We have a Wii with some emulators to play the old Mario games and I enjoyed Epic Mickey more than I should probably admit. These days I usually play games through Steam on my laptop.  Some of my favorites are Slime Rancher, Don’t Starve, Portal & Portal 2, Battleblock Theater, Tomb Raider and Alien: Isolation.

When I was young I wanted to be a veterinarian, but as I got older I accepted the reality that I can’t cope with animals in pain. I read every single book by James Herriott and I loved the stories of his experiences as a veterinarian. The biggest struggle I have as an adult is trying not to bring home every animal at the shelter. #AdoptDontShop

I diffuse essential oils in my home, I meditate, I believe in Karma and I practice yoga. I drive a Prius and carry around reusable shopping bags. I read about the power of crystals and the law of attraction. You may think that these things make me a “Hippie” or that I’m a little weird, but I’m ok with that.

I have a small collection of printed books and a very large collection of digital ones. The eReader is an amazing invention. Thriller, Mystery, Sci-fi, New Age and some non-fiction. I have read and re-read the Harry Potter books since I received the first book as a gift in 1997. I’m ok with listening to the audio versions of some books, but I prefer to sit down with a book in my hands.
